Release notes - August 2020
Summary
20.8 sees Highlight support a broader range of vendors: Cisco Viptela for SD-WAN and Foundry/Ruckus for switches
Cisco Viptela SD-WAN support in Highlight BETA
Highlight enables a seamless transition from an existing MPLS network to SD-WAN using one tool.
Highlight’s SD-WAN feature is designed to be vendor agnostic allowing a range of SD-WAN manufacturers to all be displayed on a single dashboard. We now support Cisco Viptela in addition to Cisco Meraki which we launched earlier this year.
Highlight’s SD-WAN offering automatically discovers devices and watches on your organisation's SD-WAN networks and places them in the correct location in the network explorer tree.
SD-WAN watches integrate into existing Highlight heat tile functionality and easy to understand graphics. SD-WAN watches alert when thresholds are breached and appear in reporting, enabling SLAs to be set and monitored for SD-WAN networks.
Contact us to participate in early trials. Find out more about SD-WAN.
Foundry/Ruckus switches now supported
Highlight now supports Foundry/Ruckus switches in addition to these other manufacturers:
- Cisco
- Extreme
- HP (Procurve)
- H3C
- Juniper (including the QFX range)

Strip charts - fewer clicks for more information
Toggle name and description to easily identify watches. Switch from graph to details for instant visibility of bandwidth on bearers and source/target on performance tests. This setting is remembered when you next log in.
Internet Explorer no longer supported
As first announced in the June 2020 release notes, after October 2020, Highlight will no longer support Internet Explorer 11. Since 20.7, anyone logging in using Internet Explorer sees the warning message shown above. Instead of reduced functionality, Highlight is likely to stop working on this browser after this date. Use Edge, Chrome or Firefox for the best experience.

Bug fixes
- WiFi: Highlight correctly shows clients connected to Cisco wireless access points which are using 802.11a/b/g/n Hybrid radio mode (bsnAPIfType = 3)
- WiFi: Highlight now discovers wireless access points on Cisco Meraki "combined" network type, previously this was restricted to "wireless" only networks
- Maintenance windows: Fixed date/time formatting error when creating maintenance windows where the window was correctly scheduled, but the date shown in the UI could be wrong
